Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge
Central Serengeti, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge Review:
There’s no place more iconic in East Africa than the majestic Serengeti National Park and with its enviable location in the heart of this untamed landscape the Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge offers up familiar comfort set against an unfamiliar backdrop. With all the sumptuous luxuries and service that you expect of a Four Seasons and unexpected surprises like a watering hole with elephants playing and Maasai warriors dotted around the grounds, this is a safari experience like no other.
Style
The 77 rooms (including several multibedroom suites that are perfect for families!) spread across two wings, all feature local artwork and textiles that complement the amazing Serengeti or Waterhole Views. This is still a Four Seasons though, so these local designs are accompanied by the amenities and comfort (like the iconic Four Seasons bed) that guests expect from the brand.
Culinary
While you might think that a location in the heart of a national park as large as the Serengeti could limit the menu options, the Four Seasons proves this thought wrong! With three restaurants on property, the menu covers everything from classical French and Italian cuisine to locally inspired African dishes. We recommend enjoying dinner with a show at Boma Grill at least once during your stay. This open-air restaurant is centered around immersion in the Maasai culture and includes menu items inspired by traditional Maasai dishes as well as performances of traditional dances and songs by Maasai warriors (several of whom work as guards around the property!).
On Site Activities
Any trip to the Serengeti is going to involve lots of time in search of the Big Five and with as much ground as there is to cover in the park, guests will always feel like eachand every game drive experience is a new one. For something even more unique – leave the ground behind and take to the skies in a sunrise hot air balloon adventure! Watch as the skies lighten and the savannah comes to life beneath your feet with herds of zebra, antelope and even elephants strolling along as you float silently above them. End your adventure with breakfast in the bush before joining your guide for the morning’s game drive.
Morning and afternoon game drives leave plenty of time to relax in the heat of the day though and the Four Seasons offers lots of ways to keep busy. Spend an afternoon lounging by the pool or in one of the many living room style spaces scattered throughout the property or hit up the spa for a little pampering after the dust of the trail! We also highly recommend a visit to the on site Discovery Center with exhibitions covering the Serengeti’s ecosystem, conservation efforts for the local wildlife and even an art gallery style exhibit of black and white photographs taken by “photographers in residence”.
