Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel
Anguilla, Caribbean
Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel Review
At Belmond’s Cap Juluca Hotel, barefoot luxury has never looked so good! This iconic resort has graced Anguilla since 1988, when Linda and Charles Hickox fell in love with the location and decided to build the hotel and its (now famous) Pimms restaurant. Fast forward a few years, and Cap Juluca quickly become “the” place to be for jetsetters and movie stars. Spend a few minutes on property and its easy to see why, with its Moroccan-style domed villas and colorful tropical gardens contrasting against the turquoise waters and white sand beach of Maundays Bay.
While the hotel may have a longstanding history, this grand dame has never rested on her laurels. After being acquired by Belmond and LVMH in 2017, $121 million dollars were invested into elevating this Caribbean classic. The rooms and suites still have a beach-chic feel, but with modern updates like private solariums, motion-activated lights, and plugs for every device you’ll hopefully be too busy to use! But while the Cap Juluca may feel fresh and new, the most important features like the views and staff remain unchanged (good thing, too – many of the staff have been around for 30+ years and are treated as family by repeat guests!).

Culinary
The Homestead houses the main restaurant The Grill Room, as well as the smaller café bistro and a bar/lounge all arranged around a central reflecting pond that (like many other places on property) often attracts the attention of the resident monkeys. The Grill Room offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day – we recommend requesting a table in the garden to enjoy the beautiful grounds alongside your meal. Alternatively, the Bistro is an all-day and all-night alternative with a slightly more casual menu and its own pizza oven. Our favorite dish – the corn fritters featuring fresh local produce throughout!
