Our search continues for wonderful travel companies to partner with for our Sustainable Corporate Travel initiative and we are delighted to include Ponant Yacht Cruises & Expeditions on this list! It can be difficult to find a truly sustainable partner in the cruise industry but Ponant’s respect for the environment is easy to see in their Sustainability Manifesto and in their actions to create less harmful travel practices.
Clean Ship
While Ponant has instituted the traditional practices of limiting single-use plastics on board their ships and maximizing water recycling, they have gone beyond this and created the most environmentally friendly fleet of cruise ships in the world.
As of 2020, 100% of their ships have either the CLEANSHIP or the CLEANSHIP SUPER label and they are all fitted with electric propulsion systems that limit emissions and produce lower levels of noise and vibrations to protect the ocean life and ecosystems that they sail within.
The cruise line didn’t stop there though, as we move into the 20’s Ponant is looking forward to the future of cruising and has designed, built, and sailed Le Commandant Charcot, a ship that embodies their commitment to sustainable tourism. This ship is designed specifically for journeying into the extreme polar regions of the world while consuming the cleanest energy currently available and impacting the environment as minimally as possible.

Blue Eye:
Each of the PONANT EXPLORERS series ships is equipped with an underwater guest lounge called Blue Eye, located within the hull eight feet beneath the waterline. This major innovation focuses on three innovative concepts: biomimetics, innovative underwater vision, and global listening. Thanks to hydrophones that are integrated beneath the keel, the natural symphony of the deep sea is captured across o three-mile radius
