Traveling to Chile & Argentina during COVID:

Know before you go

After over a year of closure these two South American icons are reopening to fully vaccinated international travelers with no quarantine effective November 1, 2021. If Antarctica, Patagonia, Easter Island, Buenos Aires or the Atacama have been on your travel wish list we can finally start planning!

Chile:

Fully Vaccinated Travelers:

Starting November 1, 2021 non-resident foreigners can travel freely through the country if proof of full vaccination is provided and a COVID-19 test completed upon arrival yields a negative result.

All foreigners who wish to enter Chile, and who have already validated their vaccination scheme on the website mevacuno.gob.cl, must submit an affidavit at least 48 hours before boarding on the website C19.cl. Along with this, they must have a negative PCR up to 72 hours before the trip. In addition, they must have medical insurance with a minimum coverage of USD $ 30,000.

Upon entering the country, they must be kept in isolation until they have the result of the PCR test carried out after entering Chile.

Non-Vaccinated Travelers:

Foreigners may also enter the country without a Mobility Pass, as long as they fall within the grounds included in Decree 102 of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, that is, crews, foreigners in transit, diplomatic personnel, etc. In these cases, mandatory isolation will be extended for seven days.

Argentina:

Fully Vaccinated Travelers:

Passengers travelling to Argentina must fulfill the following requirements:
1) Complete COVID vaccination certificate
2) Negative PCR TEST (swabbing) done within 72 hours before the departure flight to Argentina
3) Within 48 hours prior to the departure flight, complete the Traveler Form at: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app/home.php (attaching the negative result of the PCR test and certificate of COVID vaccination); To board the plane, the result of the negative PCR test and the proof of internet delivery of the Affidavit must be printed, as well as the vaccination card
4) Travel Insurance that covers the traveler for COVID during the stay in Argentina
5) Between 5 to 7 days after arrival in Argentina, it is required a PCR test
6) 72 hrs. Before the flight back to the US, per the requirements of the USA, a new PCR test must be done to be able to board the flight back. From November 8th onwards, the USA will require proof of vaccination against COVID in order to enter the country.

All PCR TESTS must be paid by the travelers.

Non Vaccinated Travelers:

Foreigners who have not complete vaccination cannot travel to Argentina for tourism. If the purpose of the trip to Argentina is different from tourism (for example: business, sports, etc) it is required an special authorization from the Argentine Migration Direction. The process starts at the Consulates of Argentina with jurisdiction on the place of your residence.

Return to the United States:

All travelers returning to the United States must prevent a negative result from a COVID test taken within 3 days prior to your return. Ask our travel agency for assistance in arranging COVID testing during your trip to Chile or Argentina to comply with these requirements.

Effective November 8, 2021 all non-vaccinated travelers returning to the United States must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 1 day before travel. Fully vaccinated travelers must present proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 3 days before travel.
